Mountain erupts in Chile, 3,500 people were evacuated

SANTIAGO - MICOM: A mountain in Cordon Caulle region in southern Chile erupted,remove smoke and dust. The eruption that caused more than 3,500 people who livenear the volcano were evacuated.

Chilean Geological Survey said the gas as high as 10 miles wide and five miles outfrom Mount Puyehue.

Chilean Labor Minister Rodrigo Ubilla said some people refused to evacuate becausethey do not want to leave their homes and livestock.

The wind brings dust from Mount Puyehue it to Argentina and caused the closure of the airport in the destination city of San Carlos de Bariloche wisawa. City officials askedresidents to wear masks covering their nose and mouth. Residents were also askedmenyetok water and food and stay in the house. (AP/OL-13)
