Iran Will Send a Monkey into Outer Space

Iran plans to send monkeys into space in the near future. The plan was disclosed by the highest officials in the field of space in Iran. Flight plan will be conducted between July 23, 2011 until August 23, 2011.

Capsules weighing 285 pounds would take a monkey to a height of 120 kilometers. The launch will be conducted using rocket Kavoshgar-5. "Shipping is a first step beforesending humans in 2020," said Hamid Fazeli, head of the Space Organization.

Iran had sent small animals such as rats, turtles, and worms, along with rocketKavoshgar 3 in 2010.

Kavoshgar-5 rocket launch was conducted after delivery Rassad-1 satellite to an altitude of 260 kilometers above Earth. Satellites orbiting the earth 15 times in 24 hourswas used to capture images of the planet and send pictures.
