Republic of Indonesia Discover Sea Wave Power Plants

Energy crisis made a number of experts think to build a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Indonesia. Generating a priority uranium to generate power is deemed able to meet the challenges of national energy.
However, pascaledakan Japan Fukushima nuclear power plant by the earthquake and tsunami that hit the region, the rejection of the nuclear re-emerged. The risks were judged too large for Indonesia.
The fact is that discourage some politicians to limit or delay the construction of nuclear power plants in Java and Sumatra. Consequently, the availability of national energy back into the fundamental question.
In fact, researchers from the Center for Research and Development of the State Electricity Company PT, Zamrisyaf, has found new sources of renewable energy in the form of ocean wave energy. This potential is believed to be able to overcome the national electricity crisis. Most importantly, Power Wave-Pendulum System (PLTGL-SB) is environmentally friendly.
"If 20 percent of the length of the South Coast [Java] used to PLTGL, then gained about 6,500 Mega Watt power," said Zamrisyaf in a written interview, Thursday, April 28, 2011.
Calculations are based on the energy potential in South Beach is an average of 40 kilo watt per meter width of the wave. Compared with nuclear power plants, power generated is not much different.
As published in the news earlier VIVAnews.com, one gram of uranium produces 1,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity a year. Equivalent to the use of 3 million tons of coal and two million kilo liters of fuel oil (BBM).
However, operating costs and construction of nuclear power plants is more expensive than other plants. Every 1,000 MW of power nuclear power plants need U.S. $ 4-6 billion, which is able to build power plants 3000-4000 MW of wind power. This is compounded by the problem of radiation risks that could threaten human safety and the environment.
So far, the findings Zamrisyaf have gained improvements through cooperation with the Institute of Technology Surabaya (ITS). According to him, cooperation with the ITS has mengasilkan accurate measurements for a rancangbangun PLTGL-SB. Especially measures pontoon dimensions, weights pendulum and pendulum arm length and the resulting power and RPM.
In the early stages, the potential maximum of one unit PLTGL about 125 kw. Even attempted to reach reach 300kw. This is based on the calculation, the pendulum weight 10 kg; pendulum arm length of 2 meters; period ocean waves on average 3 seconds reach a height of 1.5 meters; then the power generated a set of pendant approximately 25.2 kw.
"If one pontoon unit consists of five sets of the pendulum, then the power dihasikan by one pontoon unit reaches about 125 kw," he said.
Constrained Funds
If there is no obstacle, PLTGL-SB Zamrsiyaf findings will be launched in 2013. Mass production of this plant can be done given the technology and raw materials used are easy to find in the country.
"Actually, in 2013 PLTGL-SB can be launched, but depending on funding for research and development. This year's research budget in the PLN-SB PLTGL not available with a variety of reasons, "said the owner of the patent number P00200200854 IPR over the plant.
He admitted, these findings could be mass produced in a number of Sea Wave Power-pendulum system (PLTG-SB). The plant had tested in 2007 in Cote Ulak Karang Padang. Built a tool that can generate electricity of 300 watts although it can not be said to be successful.
The workings of this tool is quite interesting. Pontoon that serves as a ship carrying a pendulum that is integrated with the dynamo. To produce the maximum armature rotation, the pendulum is assisted by means of transmission and interface the double-freewheel with the help of chains.

Every movement of sea water so that the pendulum will shake the double-freewheel drive to rotate a dynamo generating electricity. Estimated investment value of this tool is equivalent to the construction of hydropower.
On-SB PLTGL findings PLN employees, the turbine and the pendulum mounted on a pontoon as the float container plant is not exposed to sea water. So in terms of durability of this tool will be more secure.
What about nuclear power? As written in these pages before, the National Energy Board (DEN) requires three important things that must be met if the government still plans to run nuclear power plant. Three conditions it is aspects of safety and the environment, public participation, and aspects of public subsidy that must be met in order for nuclear power plants could be more pro-community.
