Bosscha Observatory became one of ITB observatory of the 15 locations that will stop off international researchers to study Pluto. The research team plans to stop by on June 27, 2011.
The research team consisted of the Southwest Research Institute, University of Arizona,and ITB Bosscha Observatory, and supported by the National Geographic, NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration) Planetary Astronomy, and The NewHorizons mission to Pluto.
Bosscha claimed to have many advantages, so choose as a place to study. "It'srelatively close to the equator and are in a row the Pacific Ocean," explains the show onthe web site files.
Bosscha have a large telescope (60 cm Zeiss refractor gando) and secondarytelescope (GOTO 45 cm reflector, reflector CELESTRON 25 cm) equipped with asensitive CCD video camera. (National Geographic Indonesia / Alex Pangestu)
